On Monday, the Indiana School Board heard an update on the positive case of Covid-19 discovered at Ben Franklin Elementary School.
The case was discovered in a student at Ben Franklin, and the district made an announcement Sunday about what the district was doing. Indiana School District Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said in his report that there was no definite direction from the PA Department of Health, but that the district acted out of an abundance of caution, and that earned praise from the Department of Health.
In other business, the board tabled a motion to hire lifeguards from the YMCA for work at the Junior High Pool by a 7-2 vote. Some members of the board were hesitant to approve the motion due to Covid-19 safety rules concerning locker rooms. The board will bring it back up for further discussion at a future meeting.
Finally, the board approved a donation of a piano to the district from Marie Twal to be used at the junior high school.
