The Pennsylvania gas price average went down over the last week.
Triple-A reports the current average cost of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $2.50, which is a penny less than where that average was last week. It is three cents higher than where it was last month, and 21 cents lower than last year at this time.
Gas price averages nationwide have been going down over the last few weeks as demand has gone down. The national average is $2.19. Reports from the Energy Information Administration show that demand for gas went down by 400,000 barrels a day. Demand is expected to continue on this downward trend as fall approaches.
The average gas price in Indiana County is $2.54 a gallon. That ties it with Armstrong County. Westmoreland County has the lowest average in the region at $2.50 a gallon. Jefferson County reports $2.56 a gallon on average. Cambria County has $2.57 a gallon and Clearfield County has $2.58 a gallon.
For communities in Indiana County, Indiana Borough and White Township residents are seeing gas prices at $2.55 a gallon. Nearby Shelocta has a reported price of $2.59 a gallon. Gas prices for Homer City and Clymer are at $2.52 a gallon, while Blairsville has gas prices around the $2.49 area.
