With about a week to go before Pennsylvania’s primary elections, one more deadline is coming up for those who wish to use a mail-in ballot.
Tomorrow is the last day that voters can apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot. While absentee ballots are for those who will be out of their municipality on election day or those who have a disability that prevents them from casting a vote at their polling place on May 16th, regular mail-in ballots are for anyone who would prefer to mail in their ballots, and need no reason for the request. Applications for the mail-in or absentee ballot must be received by the county board of elections by the end of business tomorrow, but exceptions will be made for unexpected disability or a last-minute absence from the municipality.
Those ballots are due back to the election board by 8:00 PM on May 16th. Ballots received after that time, even if they are postmarked before 8:00 PM on May 16th will not count.
You must be a registered voter to receive a mail-in ballot. You can check on your voter registration status at pavoterservices.pa.gov or by calling the state voter hotline at 1-877-VOTES-PA or calling the Indiana County Voter Registration Office at 724-465-3852.
