The Penguins certainly are not favorites to win the NHL Draft Lottery tonight, but technically, they are in contention.
The league’s 16 non-playoff teams are all eligible. The Penguins have a 1.5 percent chance of winning the right to select Canadian star center Connor Bedard, who scored 71 goals this past season in the Western Hockey league.
The Anaheim Ducks have the highest odds to win the number-one pick at 18.5-percent. The Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens round out the top five with the best odds.
