The Steelers are preparing for Monday’s season opener at the New York Giants and yesterday the first official injury list was released. For Pittsburgh, guard David DeCastro and receiver Diontae Johnson are the only two names on the list. No game status is included, but both missed yesterday’s practice, DeCastro with a knee injury and Johnson with a foot injury.
The Giants listed five players, the most notable being receiver Golden Tate with a hamstring injury. As with the Steelers’ injured players, the report did not include game status.
Last night, the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs’ rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown in a 34-20 victory over the Texans to kick off the NFL season. Patrick Mahomes threw for three touchdowns. Houston scored first, but then KC reeled off 31 unanswered points
