Mitch Keller threw a three-inning simulated game on Wednesday and appears ready to come off the injured list, where’s he has spent most of the season. The Bucs have only 19 games left in the shortened season and want to get a look at Keller as a starter.
The Pirates have used the $243,300 international singing pool allowance they got from the White Sox in the Jarrod Dyson trade to sign 17-year-old Venezuelan pitcher Eduardo Zapata. He’s a 6-2, 160-pound right-hander.
