VARSITY BASEBALL
Indiana High routed Highlands 15-0 in five innings on Friday. Gavin Homer had Five RBI’s on the day, going 2 for 4 at the plate including a Home Run. Hunter Martin, Steven Budash and Michael Tortorella also had home runs in the game. Homer picked up the win on the mound, going 4 innings of shutout ball, striking out 9 and giving up three hits. The two teams will play again today.
Today is the Teddy Bear Fund Drive Baseball games at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City. Today’s double-header will feature Derry vs. United in game 1, and host team Homer-Center will play Marion Center in game two. First pitch for game one is slated for 4:00, and we will be on Renda Digital TV at 3:45 with the pre-game show. The games will also be on WDAD, 100.3 FM, AM 1450 and WDADRadio.com
JV BASEBALL
Indiana routed highlands in both games of a double header on Friday winning Game One by a 7-1 score and Game Two 12-0.
In Game One, Tim Birch and Caden Force led the offense by collecting two hits apiece. Birch had two doubles and an RBI and Force was two for two with a double and two RBI’s. Force also got the win on the mound throwing a complete game and striking out five.
In Game Two, Sully Van Hoose stole the show by pitching a complete game shutout and getting 13 of his 15 outs by strikeout. He gave up a lone single in the fourth inning and walked two. Force led the offense again with two hits including a double and three RBI’s. Mark Collinger also had a double.
With the wins, Indiana improved its record to 13-2. The Indians take on Somerset on Monday at home.
SOFTBALL
Indiana softball beat Knoch 7-3 in a section game.
Prior to the game the 4 seniors were recognized, Liz Flanders, Chloe McHugh, Tori Manzek and Regan Trusal. Liz Flanders hit a grand slam in the first inning. Olivia Zimmerman had a triple, 2 doubles, was 3/4 and 2 RBI’s. Regan Trusal also had a double. Maggie Cunningham was 3/4. Olivia was the winning pitcher striking out 10 and issuing 4 walks.
Next game is Monday at Highlands.
The Marion Center Softball team defeated the United Lions twice in a doubleheader Friday evening.
The Stingers took the first game 5-0. For the Stingers, Mya Lipsie hit a double, Lyndsay Mallory had two hits and Lydia Miller, Cheyenne Silvis and Kayla Hill each had a hit. Silvis earned the win with 15 strikeouts, giving up one walk. Marion Center won the second game 13-1.
Leading in hits Brookelynn Hill hit a home run, double and single. Kayla Hill followed with a home run and double. Lydia Miller hit a double and single, Lyndsay Mallory singled twice and Mya and Madi Lipsie each had a hit. Brookelynn Hill and Kayla Hill both pitched for the win, Brookelynn struck out 3 and Kayla struck out 2.
