In a news release Friday, Representative Dave Reed and Senator Don White revealed that more than $277,000 in funding is being awarded to 22 Indiana County fire and ambulance organizations through the 2017-18 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.
The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All grants are generated from slot machine gaming proceeds, not General Fund tax revenue. Grant awards can be used for the construction or renovation of facilities, the purchase or repair of equipment, or on training or debt reduction.
