A mask ordinance will be voted on tonight at the Indiana Borough Council agenda prep session.
On the proposed agenda is a motion to adopt an ordinance to enact the ordinance to require borough residents to wear facial masks when in Indiana Borough when inside an area where the public is generally permitted, when people are outside and are unable to stay six feet away from each other, obtaining health services and when engaged in work. Exceptions to the rule have been provided for those who cannot wear masks for health and safety reasons, those unable to remove a mask without assistance, those under the age of two, and those who are communicating with someone hearing impaired or has a disability where the ability to see the mouth is essential.
The mask requirements are crafted after the state’s mask mandate, and would also put in place a structure of fines for those who don’t follow the ordinance. That ordinance would be enforced by the borough police, parking enforcement and code enforcement officers.
