The Pirates continue their homestand today looking for some revenge against the White Sox.
Greg Brown has the preview.
All Puerto Rican players in Major League Baseball will be allowed to wear the number 21 to honor Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente on Wednesday. They will also wear a patch to commemorate the late Pirates star. Of course, all of the Pittsburgh Pirates will wear the jersey number of Clemente, making tomorrow night’s game the first time number 21 has taken the field for the Pirates since 1972.
The Cardinals’ and Twins’ Puerto Rican players will have the opportunity to wear the number today since they are both off tomorrow. Carlos Delgado is the last Puerto Rican player to wear the number in honor of Clemente, and Sammy Sosa and Paul O’Neill wore 21 in their careers to honor the Pirates’ star.
