Two major fundraisers will get underway today.
The 8th Annual Walk for a Wonderful Life to benefit the Indiana County Suicide Task Force will get underway today and run for the month in a virtual format. The walk is normally held in Mack Park this month, but Dr. Ralph May with the Suicide Task Force said that with the walk going to a virtual format, people can complete the walk in any way they chose.
You can register for the event by logging on to the Eventbrite page set up for the virtual walk, and then track your progress using #WalkForAWonderfulLife. May said that the important part of the walk is bringing together families and individuals who have been affected by suicide.
To register, you can log on to the EventBrite page for the walk.
Also getting underway today is one part of the United Way of Indiana County’s annual fundraiser kickoff event. This year’s event will also be held in a virtual format. Chrissy Struzzi, one of the campaign co-chairs talked about where the event will be held both online and in the real world.
The virtual part of the fundraiser will include the annual basket raffles that are a major part of the fundraiser. From now until September 17th, those who want to contribute can log on to their event page on BidPal and purchase tickets for the baskets that have been donated to the cause.
During the live virtual event on September 17th at 5:30 PM, winners of those basket raffles will be announced, and Struzzi along with campaign co-chair Kris Levan will join several first responders in revealing the 2020 campaign fundraising total. You’ll be able to view the live event through the United Way’s website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.
