Second-seeded IUP swept Shaw out of the NCAA DII Atlantic Region Tournament yesterday, 4-0, at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
IUP was dominant, with Lydia Vlachou rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 win in her singles match, Karolyn Kirchtag taking her match, 6-0, 6-1, and Katy Graydon clinching her match, 6-2, 6-4. Kirchtag and Graydon won their doubles match 6-0, Vlachou and Laura Dunarova took their set, 6-1, and Joanna Stralka and Natalie Kmoskova were up 4-2 when their match was halted.
IUP posted its sixth consecutive victory, advancing to today’s regional final at Wexford against Slippery Rock, a 4-1 winner over Fairmont State. IUP swept Slippery Rock in the regular season.
LACROSSE
IUP will carry the West second seed into the six-team PSAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The Crimson Hawks will face third West seed Mercyhurst this afternoon at 4 at Miller Stadium. IUP finished the regular season 12-5 overall, 10-2 in the PSAC, and they beat the Lakers twice, by scores of 12-6 and 14-12.
In the East, East Stroudsburg faces Kutztown in the two-three matchup.
West Chester will host the semis and finals this weekend. They are 17-0 overall and 12-0 in the PSAC. Seton Hill is the West top seed, at 14-3 overall and 12-0 in the conference.
