NBA:
Following the postponement of games due to athletes boycotting following the Jacob Blake shooting, NBA returns to the hardwood with three games on tap. The Magic and Bucks tip off at 3:30 this afternoon; the Thunder and Rockets will get underway at 6:30; and the Trail Blazers and Lakers is tonight’s matinee, tipping off at 9.
NBA NEWS:
- Dallas Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis will miss the remainder of the Mavs’ playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers, after reports of a lateral meniscus tear surfaced. He was questionable for game two, where he put up a 23 point performance.
- Oklahoma City Thunder star Chris Paul told ESPN that NBA players “needed to reset” following the Jacob Blake shooting in an emotional interview. Paul is the president of the NBAPA and has been since 2013.
NHL:
The NHL will also resume action tonight with three games on the agenda. The Tampa Bay Lightning goes for their third series win against the Boston Bruins at noon, the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders will get underway at 7 and the Vegas Golden Knights and Vancouver Canucks at 9:45.
Both of those series are tied at 1-1.
NHL NEWS:
- The NHL is investigating an allegation towards former Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon, ESPN reported yesterday. The allegation is made following alleged conduct violations, in which Tallon used a racial slur while the team was in the Toronto bubble. The investigation is still on-going.
- The Arizona Coyotes have forfeited two draft picks after reports say they violated the NHL combine testing policy by conducting illegal pre-draft testing. This testing included the Coyotes putting draft-eligible prospects through series of physical tests, which is not allowed by drafting protocol according to reports from CHL teams.
GOLF:
As day two of the BMW Championship gets underway, reports as of 6:45 a.m. say Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy are tied for first after opening the day shooting one over. Yesterday’ leader, Hideki Matsuyama, is even with Dustin Johnson to open the day.
