They don’t have a general manager yet, but the Penguins’ front office is still working. The team announced on Saturday that forward Alex Nylander has re-signed, inking a one-year, one-way $775,000 contract. He played nine games with the Pens last season, with a goal and an assist. The Penguins got Nylander in January, 2022 in the trade of Sam Lafferty to the Blackhawks.
2018 Penguins second round draft choice Filip Hallander has given up on the NHL for now, signing a five-year contract with Timra HK in his native Sweden. Hallander said he might have stayed if he’d been given more of an opportunity to play in Pittsburgh, but he spent almost all of his time in American playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He played in two games with the Pens last season and one the season before.
