The Indiana County Commissioners approved a motion for a joint-agreement ground lease for the Office of Planning and Development and the Indiana County Education and Technology Center Wednesday morning.
The ground lease is for a building on the campus of the technology center in White Township, measuring at 26,402 square feet. The purpose of the building is to provide a state-of-the-art hands-on learning center for the technology center and the Challenger Learning Center, to provide a platform for local high school students to get real-world knowledge in areas of science, engineering, technology and mathematics.
Commissioner Robin Gorman talked during the meeting about how the outcomes from this center would positively impact the area.
Other approved items were renewals of Child and Youth Services employees for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. More than 8 total positions were renewed with two coming from the solicitor role. Also, a proclamation was passed making the week of September 6th Suicide Prevention Week.
Lastly, the courthouse will be closed on Monday, September 7th for the Labor Day holiday.
