Longtime Steelers scout Bill Nunn, who passed away in 2014, has been nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is in the “Contributor Finalist” category.
Nunn worked for the Steelers for 46 years, starting in 1967. He is credited with finding Steelers legends such as John Stallworth, Mel Blount, Donnie Shell, and L.C. Greenwood. He focused much of his scouting on historically black colleges.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says that while Nunn’s life journey was inspiring, he also had a keen eye for talented athletes, who could be developed into great football players.
Nunn’s Hall of Fame nomination will be considered by a 48-member committee, eighty percent of which must approve. They will meet on February 6th next year.
With the threat of rain yesterday, the Steelers moved training camp workouts from Heinz Field on the North Side to the South Side team training complex. Center Maurkice Pouncey returned to practice after attending his grandmother’s funeral. Ten players missed practice with injuries or scheduled days off. Wide receiver Ryan Switzer injured his foot during practice, and running back Kerrith Whyte and cornerback Alexander Myres each suffered groin injuries
