Preliminary hearings are scheduled today for a man charged with retail theft in one case and with four counts of endangering the welfare of children in another.
47-year-old William N. Jefferson of Indiana was charged by Indiana Borough Police with child endangerment in an incident from February 24th of this year. Officers were called out to perform a welfare check at a home in the 300 block of North 10th street, and found no one was taking care of the four children found in the home. They determined that Jefferson was their guardian. No word was given as to why he left the children alone.
In an unrelated case, he was charged with Retail Theft for an incident on January 4th of this year.
