IUP has not said anything about coronavirus testing results so far as the campus welcomes students back, but Bloomsburg University, another of the State System schools, reports it has had 10 students and an employee test positive this week.
Bloomsburg’s classes are mostly online and the university has very strict protocols for mask-wearing and physical distancing. The school also has a dedicated Covid-19 page on its website, and starting yesterday, it says it will update the newest positive and negative virus test results every Wednesday. The numbers will reflect results as of the previous Friday.
Bloomsburg has closed its university bookstore temporarily and will reopen it on Monday. It has also set aside 72 residence hall rooms for quarantining students if necessary.
IUP is in the midst of “Welcome Week”, with incoming freshman and transfer students coming to campus and the rest of the student body taking their classes remotely this semester. President Michael Driscoll will deliver his annual Opening of the Academic Year remarks tomorrow, with the presentation done virtually.
