Two Steelers were injured in practice yesterday. Fourth-round draft pick offensive guard Kevin Dotson left the field with assistance after suffering a knee injury and undrafted rookie tight end Dax Raymond rolled an ankle near the end of practice.
Coach Mike Tomlin also commented on the camp so far from two stars returning from season-ending injuries. He said quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s throwing sessions have been limited, but only in the sense that they always are in training camp.
The team says Big Ben had heavy practice days Monday and Tuesday, and his teammates reported he was making every throw. Tight end Vance McDonald said Ben is “all the way back” and “making some insane throws”.
The coach said defensive end Stephon Tuitt, coming back from a torn pectoral muscle, is getting re-acclimated to football and is being rightly cautious.
David DeCastro was injured Monday and missed practice yesterday, but the team said it was a “veteran’s day off”. Other veteran players excused yesterday included cornerback Joe Haden, tight end Eric Ebron, and tackle Alejandro Villenueva. Maurkice Pouncey was back at practice after missing Monday for personal reasons.
