BASEBALL
IUP took a 6-5 lead with a four-run 5th inning yesterday, but Bloomsburg answered with a five-run 6th on the way to a 10-8 win. IUP had 11 hits but only one for extra bases. Peyton Johnson had three hits for the Crimson Hawks.
SOFTBALL
A five-run second inning and a five-run 4th propelled IUP to a 10-1 softball win over Clarion in the first game of a doubleheader, then the Crimson Hawks stormed back from a 4-2 deficit with a seven-run 7th in a 9-4 win in the nightcap. Madison Pikula led the way, going 5-for-7 with a two-game cycle, including a three-run inside-the-park home run.
With threatening weather in the forecast for the end of the week, both the IUP baseball and softball teams have moved Friday’s games to Thursday. The women will be at UPJ for a doubleheader and the men will be at home for two against Mercyhurst. As of now, Saturday’s games for both teams remain on as scheduled.
