The NCAA has granted immediate eligibility to Pitt redshirt freshman quarterback Joey Yellen. He’s expected to challenge Sophomore Nick Patti and fellow redshirt freshman Davis Beville for the backup job behind Kenny Pickett.
Yellen enrolled in January after one season at Arizona State. He started just one game with the Sun Devils, suffering a shoulder injury after throwing for 292 yards and four touchdowns against USC.
