Four Indiana County girls’ basketball players earned All-State honors this afternoon.
The PA State Sports Writers Association revealed that River Valley’s Ava Persichetti made first team All-State in Class 3A; Homer-Center’s Macy Sardone and Molly Kosmack earned first and third team honors in Class 2A, respectively; and Indiana’s Eve Fiala made third team honors in Class 5A.
Persichetti, in her sophomore season, led the Panthers to a Heritage Conference and District 6 championship after averaging 19.8 points and 5.3 assists per game. She also notched her 1,000th career point prior to the postseason.
Sardone and Kosmack were the dynamic duo for Homer-Center during the 2022-23 season. Sardone averaged 18 points per game and shot 41 percent from the field. She finished the season with 577 points and a 37 percent mark from three-point range.
Kosmack averaged 13.6 points, 13.3 rebounds and two blocks per game. She also led the Wildcats with 426 rebounds this season.
Fiala played a crucial part in helping the Little Indians to their second straight WPIAL Section 5A1 title and an appearance in the WPIAL playoffs. In the game when Indiana clinched the section title, Fiala netted 23 points and 16 rebounds against Woodland Hills. She also headlined her senior campaign with her 1,000th career point in the final game of the regular season against Plum
