Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf in a press conference Thursday didn’t back down from his recommendation that high school sports be canceled until Jan. 1.
Wolf reiterated it’s just a recommendation. Wolf also said he’s not sure what the PIAA could do to change his mind on the subject, but he also said that the PIAA and school districts can do what they want.
“I also recommended that we, this summer, Pennsylvanians avoid going to the Jersey Shore,” Wolf said with a facial expression that suggested sarcasm.
“I’m sorry, that’s my recommendation. You do what you want, and school districts are going to do what they want.”
Wolf said he has not seen a letter from the PIAA sent to him yesterday that made the case for why there should be high school sports this year, suggesting there will be sufficient oversight to keep everyone as safe as possible.
