A Marion Center man will go before Judge Thomas Bianco today for two motions hearings connected with DUI cases.
60-year-old Raymond Wayne Parks has been in SCI-Pine Grove in Indiana County since his guilty pleas to charges of DUI in two cases. One case dated back to February 22nd of 2019, and in that case he faced two counts of DUI along with summary traffic offenses. The other case goes back to March 17th of that same year. In that incident, police said that Parks’ van crossed the center line near Wrigden Run Road and sideswiped a car going the other way. Police said that Parks’ van then hit a tree and burst into flames.
Parks was flown from the scene and the driver of the other car, Alexa Alker of DuBois, was also taken by her mom to IRMC.
On top of both felony and misdemeanor DUI charges, Parks was charged with accidents involving death or personal injury, accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle and eight summary traffic charges. In both cases all but one count of DUI were not prosecuted. Parks was sentenced in both cases to serve up to five years in state prison. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently.
Both hearings have to do with a motion on duty to disclosure of evidence, discovery and inspection.
