The Penguins have bumped right up against elimination, trailing two games to one in their best-of-five qualifying series against Montreal. The two teams face off this afternoon in Toronto, with the Canadiens having the chance to advance to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Penguins Coach Mike Sullivan says his team knows the situation.
The Penguins were noticeably less energetic in their Game Three loss, in which they blew a two-goal lead. Sullivan says they can’t have that kind of effort this afternoon.
Sullivan made a notable lineup change on Wednesday, replacing third-line center Jared McCann with rookie Sam Lafferty. He said switching personnel is risky, but there can also be upside.
Winger Patrik Hornqvist says the Penguins are ready to go today.
Center Evgeni Malkin says the Penguins are a confident group.
The game this afternoon is on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel, with the pregame scheduled for 2:30 and faceoff at 4. Should the Penguins win, a deciding Game Five would be played tomorrow, with the time not yet announced.
