The Homer-Center School Board will meet tonight, and there are several items on the agenda.
Among the items on the agenda is approval for the district’s 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th graders to take the PAYS or Pennsylvania Youth Survey. The survey is conducted every two years by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Deliquency and its goal is to study student’s behavior, attitudes and knowledge concerning alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and violence. The data will help school district administrators, state agency directors, legislators, and other stakeholders with information concerning the changes in patterns of the use and abuse of harmful substances and behaviors. The survey also assesses risk factors related to those behaviors and the protective factors that guard against them.
The board will also consider approving a landscaping contract with Earthcraft for the practice field in the amount of $1,046.45, and revising the school district calendar to extend the school year to June 2nd for the cancellation on March 23rd. If the motion is approved, June 2nd will become the last student day, and graduation ceremonies will be held that night.
The meeting starts at 7:30 tonight at the district board room.
