IUP led 6-1 heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning yesterday, but Wheeling scored the next 15 runs on the way to an 18-8 win over the Crimson Hawks. Elijah Dunn had a solo home run for IUP and Saltsburg grad Brady Yard cracked an RBI double.
IUP will play a doubleheader at UPJ today and host UPJ for two tomorrow.
In softball, Cal U scored three runs in the 4th to break a 1-1 tie and beat IUP, 6-1.
The IUP women’s tennis team is second in the final Atlantic Region rankings, released yesterday, and will be the top Western seed in the PSAC tournament this weekend in Bloomsburg. The Crimson Hawks will play on Sunday against the winner of today’s match between Bloomsburg and Millersville. Charleston is ranked number one in the Atlantic Region.
IUP women’s lacrosse is ranked as a team “under consideration” in the first set of Atlantic Region Rankings. The Hawks are 10-4 overall and 8-1 in the PSAC, and have won three games in a row heading into key matchups on Saturday with Slippery Rock, next Wednesday against Seton Hill, and next Saturday against Lock Haven. The first numerical Regional Rankings will be released next Wednesday. The top four schools in each of the four regions make up the 16-team NCAA Division II tournament next month.
