Five of the fourteen state-owned universities have now opted to switch to remote-only classes after California University of Pennsylvania announced it would be online-only this fall.
The school will offer most of its courses using real-time remote learning, with a small number of classes posted online for asynchronous learning.
Cal U. joins Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Millersville, and West Chester in choosing distance-only classes, with Slippery Rock holding 80 percent of its offerings online and 20 percent in person, and Edinboro going 85 percent remote and 15 percent in-person.
IUP is still planning to utilize a learning model that does have students returning to campus, with limitations.
