For the sixth time, the Ray Shetler Jr. trial was postponed after he was scheduled to appear in Westmoreland County Court on Monday. Officials with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office said a scheduling conflict was the reason for the delay and a new trial session is scheduled for sometime in June.
The 38-year-old Shetler, who is now listed with a Saltsburg address, was apprehended on December 7, 2021, after he skipped a probation hearing and went into hiding. He was found at his girlfriend’s mobile home outside of Seward and brawled with police officers and Westmoreland County detectives. During the altercation, he was struck in the eye with a stun gun.
Shetler is charged with two counts of aggravated assault along with single counts of resisting arrest and attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer.
