The Penguins arrived in Toronto yesterday to settle into “the bubble” for the rest of the NHL season. The Pens will play an exhibition game tomorrow afternoon against Philadelphia and will open the five-game play-in series against Montreal on Saturday night.
Sidney Crosby said Saturday he hopes to be able to practice with the team as early as today. He joined them for one workout this weekend but did not take part in the Saturday scrimmage.
The team released its 31-man roster for the playoffs, and the only players not listed who were part of the summer camp roster are forwards Sam Miletic and Kevin Poulin and goaltender Alex D’Orio.
Eddie Shack, who spent two of his 17 years in the NHL with the Penguins, died yesterday at age 83. Shack was part of the “Schink-Shack-Schock” line for the Pens with Ken Schinkel and Ron Schock and scored 25 goals with 20 assists with Pittsburgh. Shack won four Stanley Cups with Toronto in the 1960s.
