Today is the last day for the Shop Local event in Downtown Indiana.
The event is designed to promote shopping and supporting local businesses in the Downtown Indiana region. Throughout the week, participating businesses have been offering Chamber Cash. Those who shop at the businesses taking part in the promotion will receive 10% back in Chamber Cash that they can spend at the participating businesses until August 31st.
There will also be some special events throughout the day in Downtown Indiana. The Indiana Free Library will be offering a chance for kids to “Chalk the Walk” from 10-3 today, and kids crafts from Downtown Indiana will be in IRMC Park from noon to 4 PM. There will also be some music in IRMC Park with music from Luke Weltz at noon and Alyssa Hankey at 2:00. Starting at 2:00, there will be a scavenger hunt through downtown Indiana, and several Indiana Yoga teachers will hold classes from 10 to noon and 2-3 today. There will also be some sidewalk sales going on from various businesses and the Jimmy Stewart Museum.
To cap off the day, there will be a socially-distant dance party at the municipal lot at 8 and Gompers Avenue. The “Rooster’s Revenge: No Parking on the Dance Floor” party, hosted by the Indiana Players, will run from 5-10 and will feature music by Josh Williams, DJ Allsortz, DJ Poptone and DJ Barnwolf. The Indiana Players are reminding everyone that masks will be required to attend the event, and hand sanitizer will be made available.
