An IUP political science professor has been selected for a nine-month residential fellowship at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Steven Jackson is the first IUP and State System of Higher Education recipient of the nine-month fellowship opportunity. The fellowship will allow him to complete his book, “China’s Waters: Foreign Relations and Hydropolitics”, which examines issues concerning water and the ways they impact China’s neighbors and countries around the world. The fellowship is a highly competitive one as many people from around the world apply for it and only one out of 15 are chosen for the fellowship.
In a statement, Jackson called the Woodrow Wilson Center one of the best think tanks in the world, and he said he plans on taking advantage on what the center and the D.C. community have to offer to help him complete his work. He will be in residence from September of this year until May of next year. He will be retiring at the end of this school year after almost 30 years of teaching and nine years as the chair of the Department of Political Science.
