The Steelers made a couple of roster moves yesterday, making linebacker Alex Highsmith the first of their draft choices this year to sign a contract. Highsmith was taken in the third round of the draft out of Charlotte. His deal is at the slotted value with an $832,296 signing bonus and a base salary of $610,000.
Pittsburgh also signed free agent tight end Dax Raymond, who spent last season on the Bears’ practice squad.
The NFL Players’ Association has approved a league proposal canceling all four preseason games for every team. In addition, training camp roster sizes are expected to be reduced from 90 to 80 at the start of workouts. This comes after the league’s coronavirus testing protocols were finalized yesterday. All teams are set to report to training camp next Tuesday.
