The nine Penguins who have been withheld from training camp for the first week as a precaution following a potential secondary exposure to COVID-19 returned to skating yesterday. Patric Hornqvist, Juuso Riikola, Anthony Angello, Adam Johnson, Sam Miletic, Sam Poulin, Phil Varone, Pierre-Olivier Joseph, and Alex D’Orio did not take part in yesterday’s team scrimmage.
Captain Sidney Crosby also missed the scrimmage. The team says it cannot disclose why Crosby is off the ice after he left Saturday’s scrimmage.
In yesterday’s action the teams skated to a 3-3 tie. Patrick Marleau had two goals and Teddy Blueger one for Team Black. The goal-scorers for Team Gold were Jack Johnson, Chad Ruhwedel, and Evan Rodrigues.
The Capitals’ John Carlson, Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman and Roman Josi of the Predators have been named the finalists for the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman.
Bruins center Patrice Bergeron, Flyers center Sean Couturier and Blues center Ryan O’Reilly are the finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy, given to the league’s top defensive forward.
