The Pirates lost to the Indians last night, 11-7 in the teams’ second exhibition game.
All six Buc pitchers gave up runs, but Richard Rodriguez gave up the most and took the loss, surrendering four earned on three hits and a walk in just one inning of work. Starter Trevor Williams gave up a run in two-and-two-thirds innings of work. The run he was charged with came after Chris Stratton failed to stop an inherited runner from crossing the plate.
Josh Bell, Phillip Evans, Colin Moran, and Guillermo Heredia all homered in the loss.
The Bucs and Indians will play a final exhibition game tomorrow night at PNC Park (7 PM airtime on WCCS) with Derek Holland getting the start for the Pirates.
The Pirates and PNC Park are among the potential hosts for the Toronto Blue Jays for the upcoming season. The Jays were denied the ability to host games in their home stadium, the Rogers Centre, in Toronto, for the upcoming season by the Canadian government because teams crossing the border frequently. The Bucs are one of a number of teams in the running, as the Jays are also considering playing in Buffalo.
