A Derry Township woman was killed in a shooting on Monday when she was hit by a bullet that was fired from outside her home on Pandora Road.
Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha said that 52-year-old Tracy M. Squib died due to a gunshot wound to the chest early Monday morning. Her death was ruled a homicide. The coroner’s report said that the bullet was fired from outside, and it went through the residence and hit Squib as she slept in bed.
State police from the Kiski Barracks have been investigating the case. They say that Squib was able to call 911 at the time of the shooting, which was around 4:11 AM. She was pronounced dead less than an hour later at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.
No arrests have been made as of yet, and State Police are not saying if they think that Squib was targeted.
If anyone has any information, they are asked to call State Police at 724-832-3288.
