UPDATE:
More details have been released on the fatal fire in Salem Township this morning.
Westmoreland County Deputy Coroner Joshua Zappone pronounced 22-year-old Jeremy T. Pugh of Salem Township dead as he succumbed to injuries and was unable to escape the fire that started around 1:00 this morning. Witnesses said the fire started in the first floor of the home on Fennel Street, and the house quickly caught fire. Cause and Manner of death will be determined after an autopsy and toxicology tests are performed.
Tunnelton Fire Department from Indiana County assisted fire crews in Westmoreland County in fighting the fire. No word yet on the cause of the fire, but state police fire marshals are investigating.
WHAT WAS PREVIOUSLY RECENT
One person died in a house fire in nearby Salem Township in Westmoreland County.
Reports say the fire started around 1:00 this morning at a house fire on Fennel Street. Indiana County’s Tunnelton Fire Department was called in to assist Westmoreland County Firefighters in putting the fire out. The name of the person who died was not released. Crews are still on the scene at this hour putting out hot-spots. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, and the Red Cross was also called to the scene.
