The Pittsburgh Penguins got to play a five-on-five scrimmage during their practice on Friday. It was the closest thing to an actual game since the Pens 5-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on March 10th before the league shut down due to Coronavirus.
This comes ahead of an intra-squad scrimmage this morning, where the team will play two 25-minute periods and will take the place of the traditional practice.
Pens head coach Mike Sullivan during a news conference after practice said that he was not sure that there was a need for the players to get acclimated to one another.
The Pens are getting ready for an exhibition game on July 28th in Toronto against Philadelphia before the play-in series against the Montreal Canadiens.
