Indiana County’s unemployment rate took a slight jump in the month of November.
According to the state department of labor and industry, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 5.6%, an increase of a tenth of a percentage point. That ties Pennsylvania with three other counties with the 46th lowest unemployment rate in the state. In November of 2016, Indiana County had a 7.0% unemployment.
Among our neighbors, Westmoreland had the lowest unemployment with 5.0%, Jefferson the next-highest at 5.3%, Cambria had a 5.6% rate, and both Armstrong and Clearfield had a 5.7% unemployment rate in November.
Total non-farm jobs remained unchanged in November. The trade sector had a minimal increase while a minimal decrease in leisure and hospitality off-set it. Both were expected seasonal movements.
