The Artists Hand Gallery is launching an effort to encourage “black and indigenous persons of color” to show their artwork at the downtown Indiana gallery.
Artists Hand owner Brian Jones says there are currently no artists of color represented at the gallery and he wants that to change. He says that leading into what he calls their “quarantine series”, the Artists Hand is asking persons of color to submit their art and poetry for an immediate exhibit. Works will then be selected to continue into the gallery’s Sheltering In Place exhibit.
Jones says that if you live within 35 miles of downtown Indiana and would like to show your work in these exhibits and in the future as a commissioned artist, you’re asked to write to brian@theartistshandgallery.com. You may also send pictures of your work to the same email.
The gallery plans a reception for August 14th from 5 to 7 PM, depending on safety measures due to the pandemic.
