The State System of Higher Education has named Dr. Denise Pearson as its new vice chancellor and chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer.
Pearson is currently the vice president for academic affairs and equity initiatives at the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association, a national organization that lobbies for public policies and academic practices on behalf of post-secondary education. She’s been with the group since 2016.
With the State System, Pearson will work in improving the social equity climate and enabling data-driven decision making, focused on student achievement gaps, faculty and employee recruitment and retention, and policies leading to a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive system.
Chancellor Dan Greenstein says Pearson’s work will leverage and accelerate the work already being done on State System campuses.
Pearson has three decades of experience in education, including administrative work with Winston-Salem University and the University of Denver.
