Indiana County Commissioners met Wednesday morning and approved three contracts for the upcoming renovation project for one of Indiana County’s District Courts.
The general construction contract was awarded to Fred L. Burns, Inc. of Shippensville, who had the low bid of $455,000. The electrical contract went to Leverknight Electric of Boswell at a cost of $76,875, and the plumbing contract went to Behr Plumbing of Johnstown at $47,750. The Indiana County Office of Planning and Development said the project costs will be covered by local county funds. The renovation will be at the district court on Water Street in Indiana Borough.
In other business, commissioners approved a grant application for the Indiana County District Attorney’s office. The PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency has allocated $75,666 for Indiana County to aid how the courts are handling day to day work during the Coronavirus outbreak. District Attorney Bob Manzi said some of the money will be used for digital tools to be used by the courts.
Manzi added that the money could also be used for jury selection to be held at the KCAC starting next month to help with social distancing efforts.
