At Indiana Borough Council’s agenda prep session last night, the council approved bids for an emergency sewer replacement project for Edgewood Avenue.
The project came about after a sewer backup on Edgewood Avenue on the property closest to the northern border of Indiana Borough and White Township a few months ago, according to Public Works Director Dave Fairman. Upon further examination, the terracotta piping was in very poor condition and cracked with numerous root intrusions that caused the backup. Those bidding also had an addition to the project that they could bid on as well, and Fariman explained what the “add alternate” portion of the project was.
Council gave conditional approval to Dave Roman Excavating with a base bid of $84,710 and an add alternate bid of $47,910.
Council also approved some events to be held later this month in the areas of IRMC Park on 7th Street and at the borough’s municipal lot on 8th Street. IRMC Park would be closed July 24th to the 26th to help out with Indiana County Shop Local week, and a dance party for the Indiana Players would be held at the 8th Street Parking lot on July 25th.
