The Pirates held their first day of Spring Training on Friday, but the Pirates had closed the camp to the public to stem the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in Allegheny County.
Work out group sizes have shrunk as part of the Allegheny County orders banning large groups of 25 or more. During practice, Joe Musgrove threw a five-inning simulated game, and other pitchers threw bullpen sessions. Other players took on position drills, batting practice and ran the bases.
