PennDOT is highlighting projects that will be worked on this construction season.
Along with the ongoing widening project on Oakland Avenue and at the Route 286 and 422 interchange, PennDOT will continue work on the Route 422 Mentch Bridges in Cherryhill Township this year. The bridges will see improvements in vertical clearance. Crews will also work on replacing the structures carrying Marsh Run under Wayne Avenue and Carter Avenue with concrete box culverts. The Wayne Avenue culvert will be done under traffic, while a detour will be in place for Carter Avenue. The project will also include resurfacing, pavement patching, minor drainage, installing ADA curb ramps, pedestrian signal upgrades, bituminous leveling and wearing courses and other miscellaneous construction on Business Route 422; Wayne Avenue from Indian Springs Road to Carter Avenue, from Locust Street to Carter Avenue and from Locust Street to Philadelphia Street; North 4th Street from Philadelphia Street to Route 210 and Route 110 to the 119 interchange.
PennDOT reminds drivers that when encountering a work zone to obey the posted speed limit, turn on headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and are to take turns merging into the open lane.
