On Wednesday night, the Clymer Borough Council received word about a grant the borough received for the street signs and parking meters.
Borough manager Sonya Schrenkel said that the Local Share Account grant from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development comes to $84,554, and did not require a local match. Schrenkel said that these upgrades are desperately needed.
In other business, the council approved hiring Jason Palmer as a part-time police officer, to purchase a used snowplow truck from Rayne Township and to sell the current snowplow truck. It was also announced that Clymer Clean Up Days will run April 26 to 29. The voucher system will once again be used to prevent out-of-borough residents from dumping their trash. Vouchers will be sent out to residents soon.
