SOFTBALL
United scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to walk-off Homer-Center, 11-10. Abby McConville was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, and five RBIs. Cleo Long was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. McConville got the win, giving up all 10 runs but only one earned, while striking out 15 and walking eight.
Northern Cambria beat Purchase Line, 13-3. Laci Lanzendorfer had three hits. Lakin Baker, Skye Bernecky and Kenzie Formeck all had two hits.
West Shamokin lost to Moniteau, 10-6.
BASEBALL
A day after dropping a game to Kiski Area, Indiana turned the tables on the Cavaliers. Jake Slebodnick has the recap.

The Indiana JV team is 6-0 after outslugging Kiski Area, 10-7, in 9 innings. The Indians scored two runs in the 8th to take the lead led by Tim Birch’s homer. Rocco Cosentino then singled and was driven in by Mark Collinger’s triple. Kiski Area scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to force a 9th inning. Tuscan Blystone’s triple scored two runners and Birch drove in the final run with a single. Pitcher Mike Zimmerman struck out the side in the bottom of the inning to end the game for his second win in two days. Blystone led lead the offense with three hits and four RBIs.
Homer-Center got back on track with a 14-9 non-conference win over Kiski Prep. Brayden Rado was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs. Nash Budner was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Owen Saiani was 2-for-4 with two doubles and Braden Dunn was 2-for-3. Dunn threw 4-and-two-thirds innings for the win, giving up one earned run on five hits, striking out one and walking one.
Penns Manor could get only two hits, singles by Tyler Mellot and Ashton Courvina, in a 10-0 loss to Bishop Carroll.
Northern Cambria blitzed Purchase Line, 17-2.
West Shamokin fell to Moniteau, 16-5.
YMCA
Alex Bauer of Indiana High and the Indiana County YMCA finished 7th yesterday in the A Finals at The Y Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina. Alex swam a 2:02.62 in the 200 Breaststroke in the morning preliminarily swims earning him the 8th spot in last night’s Finals. He then bettered his time by dropping 1.06 seconds to come in 7th with a time of 2:01.56. The Y Nationals continue through the rest of the week. The Indiana Y Piranhas have six swimmers at the meet.
