State police say charges are pending after a vehicle chase in White Township that ended in a crash on Wednesday morning.
Troopers say that a vehicle that matched one that was involved in an investigation was seen running a stop sign on Gorman Avenue at East Pike Road. The vehicle was later seen in the area of Grandview Avenue, and troopers activated their emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop on South Third Street. When the trooper identified himself and asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, the driver sped off towards Carter Avenue. Troopers followed and the suspect vehicle crashed into two trees at the east end of Carter Avenue.
Two men got out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot into a northwestern direction into wooded areas. With the help of Indiana Borough Police, a perimeter was established and the two were seen in the area and taken into custody without incident.
The identities of the suspects were not released. The driver was nineteen years old and his passenger is twenty. Both are from Philadelphia. The two had minor injuries and were treated at IRMC before being taken into police custody pending further investigation.
