State Senator Don White and State Representative Dave Reed have announced some state grants that will help promote local environmental education activities and provide expansion opportunity for a major Indiana County employer.
The grant is Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant of $925,000, and it was awarded to the Indiana County Commissioners. The grant will cover approximately half the costs of a new Indiana County Conservation District Office and Environmental Education Center that is proposed for the Windy Ridge business park on Route 286 in White Township. Also, Diamond Drug and Diamond Medical Supply has expressed an interest in the building that the Conservation District currently occupies and will expand into that space once the conservation district moves out.
Representative Reed said the new conservation center will feature a number of benefits to the community and provide new partnership opportunities with local schools. Senator Don White called the RACP grant a win-win for the community, as it will help two different but important entities in Indiana County.
