At Monday night’s virtual meeting, the Indiana School Board passed the 2020-2021 budget that contained no tax increases.
The budget does have a projected deficit of $2,037,000, but that includes six positions that are projected not to be filled, and will reduce the deficit to around $1.4 million. Business Manager Jared Cronauer said that there could still be some further reduction in the projected deficit through the retirement incentive approved by the board earlier in the meeting.
Budget and Finance Chair Julia Trimarchi-Cuccaro said that the district has been saving up for moments like this.
The board also approved the conditional hiring of Kevin Edmondson as the new Junior High Principal at a cost of $85,000 a year. His hiring will be made official once the district receives all pending clearances.
